USDA export sales highlights for May 3-9

Wheat exports surged with a 91% increase in net sales, led by robust demand from Mexico, South Korea and China.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Foreign Agricultural Service reported notable export sales activity for the period of May 3-9, 2024.

Wheat:

  • Net Sales: 78,500 metric tons (MT) for 2023/2024, up 91% from the previous week.
  • Key Buyers: Mexico (60,400 MT), South Korea (9,000 MT), China (4,500 MT).
  • Exports: 449,100 MT, up 33% from the previous week, with primary destinations including China, Mexico, and South Korea.

Corn:

  • Net Sales: 742,200 MT for 2023/2024, down 17% from the previous week.
  • Key Buyers: Mexico (244,400 MT), Japan (241,300 MT), Colombia (188,900 MT).
  • Exports: 952,400 MT, down 23% from the previous week, with primary destinations including Mexico, Japan, and Taiwan.

Sorghum:

  • Net Sales: 11,900 MT for 2023/2024, down 81% from the previous week.
  • Exports: 140,600 MT to China, up 1% from the previous week.

Rice:

  • Net Sales: 25,800 MT for 2023/2024, up significantly from the previous week.
  • Key Buyers: Mexico (15,600 MT), Honduras (5,000 MT), South Korea (1,500 MT).
  • Exports: 40,300 MT, primarily to Venezuela, Panama, and the Dominican Republic.

Soybeans:

  • Net Sales: 265,700 MT for 2023/2024, down 38% from the previous week.
  • Key Buyers: Egypt (90,400 MT), Indonesia (87,900 MT), Mexico (86,600 MT).
  • Exports: 443,500 MT, up 46% from the previous week, with primary destinations including Egypt, China, and Indonesia.

Soybean Cake and Meal:

  • Net Sales: 300,400 MT for 2023/2024, up 44% from the previous week.
  • Key Buyers: Unknown destinations (121,600 MT), the Philippines (39,500 MT), Colombia (30,800 MT).
  • Exports: 211,200 MT, primarily to the Dominican Republic, the Philippines, and Mexico.

Soybean Oil:

  • Net Sales: 9,100 MT for 2023/2024, down 21% from the previous week.
  • Exports: 1,500 MT to Mexico and Canada.

Cotton:

  • Net Sales: Upland 156,500 RB for 2023/2024, down 38% from the previous week.
  • Key Buyers: China (63,600 RB), Vietnam (27,600 RB), Pakistan (22,600 RB).
  • Exports: 238,800 RB, primarily to China, Turkey, and Pakistan.

Hides and Skins:

  • Net Sales: 417,500 pieces for 2024, up 62% from the previous week.
  • Key Buyers: China (244,500 pieces), South Korea (74,400 pieces), Mexico (63,800 pieces).
  • Exports: 315,100 pieces, primarily to China, Mexico, and South Korea.

Beef:

  • Net Sales: 15,100 MT for 2024, up 23% from the previous week.
  • Key Buyers: Japan (6,600 MT), China (1,900 MT), Taiwan (1,700 MT).
  • Exports: 15,600 MT, primarily to Japan, South Korea, and China.

Pork:

  • Net Sales: 21,100 MT for 2024, a marketing-year low.
  • Key Buyers: Japan (4,900 MT), Mexico (4,500 MT), South Korea (3,200 MT).
  • Exports: 33,200 MT, primarily to Mexico, Japan, and South Korea.

These export sales data reflect the ongoing demand and trade activities in U.S. agricultural markets.
