EDP Renewables North America (EDPR NA), a top renewable energy developer and operator in the U.S., has announced a partnership with the National FFA Organization (FFA) to bolster the future of American agriculture. This collaboration aims to educate students through hands-on learning, preparing them to be tomorrow's leaders in various agricultural fields.

FFA, with over 945,988 members across 9,163 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, focuses on leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education. The organization supports aspiring farmers, biologists, chemists, veterinarians, and engineers in exploring diverse agricultural careers.

As a Five Star Partner in 2024, EDPR NA will sponsor FFA’s Local Engagement Program for Chapter Financial Assistance, which funds FFA chapters nationwide. These funds help chapters acquire new equipment, engage in new experiences, and achieve their goals for educators and students.

“Today’s students are tomorrow’s leaders, and EDPR NA’s support of FFA’s educational opportunities will ensure they are ready to meet the needs of the changing agricultural landscape,” said Scott Stump, CEO of the National FFA Organization/Foundation.

EDPR NA’s sponsorship also supports the Resources for Work Force Development at AgExplorer.ffa.org, which educates students on available careers and provides opportunities to develop critical skills and industry knowledge. The Ag Explorer program has garnered over 12 million views in six years.

“EDPR NA and FFA share the same core values of cultivating the next generation of students to lead the way in creating a more sustainable future,” said Sandhya Ganapathy, CEO of EDP Renewables North America. “We recognize the vital role that farmers play in empowering the renewable energy industry.”

The partnership includes support for Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) Grants, providing students with hands-on projects in Biotechnology, Environmental Science, and Natural Resources Systems. These projects focus on managing and enhancing natural resources, essential for the development of renewable energy facilities.

In addition to supporting FFA, EDPR NA sponsors the National 4H Council and various K-12 education programs, including KidWind, REpowering Schools, and the Children’s Environmental Literacy Foundation, promoting STEM education in agricultural regions.
