ADM contributes $100K in support of Food Banks Canada

Contribution will support "Food For All" and "The North" initiatives, helping reduce levels of food insecurity across Canada.

ADM announced a $100,000 contribution to Food Banks Canada in support of the nonprofit agency's efforts to relieve hunger and support approaches to increasing food security throughout the country.

ADM's monetary contribution will support the following initiatives guided by Food Banks Canada that are driving relief to end hunger at the community level; The North and Food For All.

Through The North, Food Banks Canada works together with Northern community members, organizations and local governments to research, share information, advocate for policy change, and collaborate to reduce the striking levels of food insecurity in the northern portion of Canada. Food For All ensures every food bank has the food they need to meet the demand in their community. As the only national organization within the food banking network, Food Banks Canada plays a unique role to help secure national food donations, leverage the vast scale of the network to get deeply discounted pricing for purchasing high-quality food, and support the infrastructure required to safely move and store food across the country.

"Food banks are moving into unchartered territory with food bank usage increasing at rates not observed since the aftermath of the 2008 recession. As the cost of living continues to rise, we must support our most vulnerable neighbors," said Erin Filey-Wronecki, chief development and partnerships officer for Food Banks Canada. "Food Banks Canada cannot do this alone. We are grateful to leaders like ADM for their commitment to a Canada where no one goes hungry, and their support in increasing food security."

The contribution is provided through ADM Cares, ADM's corporate social investment program. ADM Cares helps sustain and strengthen communities where ADM colleagues work, live and operate by directing funding, volunteerism, and industry knowledge to initiatives and organizations that drive meaningful social, economic and environmental progress worldwide with a focus on three main pillars that align with ADM's purpose:

  • Advancing health and well-being
  • Supporting sustainability
  • Increasing food security

"At ADM, we are dedicated to the mission of reaching zero hunger and encouraging others to get behind the cause, to create impactful, lasting and measurable change in communities where ADM has a footprint, and globally," said Jennifer Ballinger, director, ADM Cares.

"We are thrilled to continue this partnership with Food Banks Canada, to support their mission and to help them achieve their vision of a Canada where no one goes hungry. Through our collective efforts, and shared commitment to our communities, we are helping those who need it the most."
