All employees are accounted for and no injuries were reported following an explosion at Big V Feeds, McAlester, OK, Thursday afternoon, reports the McAlester News-Capital.
Witnesses said they saw a tall flame and heard a big boom before black smoke plumed out of a grain bin Thursday afternoon.
A witness said a bolt was found in a grinder that might have sparked the blast.
Big V Feeds also posted an update to its Facebook page.
“Just wanted to let everyone know that we had a flash dust explosion at the mill a little while ago,” the post stated. “As a precaution, everyone was evacuated and the electricity was shut down. Everyone is ok and accounted for.”
Big V Feeds is a family-owned wholesale manufacturer in McAlester that provides livestock feeds, processed grains and agricultural services.
