A grain dryer fire caused more than $210,000 worth of damage Friday morning, at a property owned by Double S Dairy, in Alto, WI, reports FDL Reporter.
At 4:40 a.m. an employee at the dairy reported a grain dryer on fire. Owners of the dairy reported that at 11:30 p.m. Thursday night, a wireless sensor in the grain dryer noted “an overheat,” according to a press release from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office.
It's believed the grain dryer started on fire around 4 a.m., when there were 1,500 bushels of corn inside it, valued at $60,000.
The grain dryer itself is worth $150,000. Both the corn and the dryer are a total loss.
