On Friday afternoon, a fire destroyed North Iowa Grain Equipment, Garner, IA. The building is a total loss, reports KAALTV.
"As far as we know it's an electrical fire," Edwin Schroeder, owner, told KAALTV. "A couple of times this summer, our lights went out in half of the building and about two months ago we had an electrician in and we thought we had everything fixed. But from what happened today, I don't think we had everything quite fixed."
He and his staff got out and moved vehicles away from the building in order to make room for the firefighters.
Schroeder and his two brothers own North Iowa Grain Equipment. They build anything that harvests grain other than the harvester itself.
