Norfolk Southern Railroad Bridge Collapses

Company has suspended service between Moberly, MO, and Kansas City, MO

A railroad bridge used by Norfolk Southern has collapsed into the Grand River in Missouri, reports RT&S.

Norfolk Southern has suspended service between Moberly, MO, and Kansas City, MO. According to an advisory released by the Class 1 railroad company, detour options are being pursued, but all trains operating to and from Kansas City will experience delays.

Debris and high flood waters have been punishing the Grand River Bridge in Brunswick, MO, for days, and a Facebook video shows the bridge dropping into the river on the evening of Oct. 2.

Due to a logjam underneath the bridge, Norfolk Southern decided to cut the rails on the span so it could control the collapse.
