ADM highlights 2023 sustainability achievements

Highlights notable progress in global food security, environmental stewardship, and enhancing lives

ADM has released its 2023 Corporate Sustainability Report, showcasing the company’s significant strides in sustainability across various initiatives and goals. The report emphasizes ADM's dedication to feeding the world, protecting nature, and enriching lives.

Board Chair and CEO Juan Luciano praised the company’s achievements and outlined future opportunities, particularly in decarbonization and the bioeconomy. “ADM is helping pave the pathway toward a better future for us all,” Luciano said.

ADM continues to prioritize global food security:

  • The Sustainable Affordable Nutrition program provides high-quality, cost-effective ingredients to enhance global nutrition access.
  • Partnerships with nonprofits like Concern Worldwide improved food security and nutrition for over 15,500 farmers in Tana River County, Kenya.
  • ADM maintains 315 Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI)-certified sites to ensure food quality and safety.

ADM's environmental efforts in 2023 focused on biodiversity, regenerative agriculture, climate, waste and freshwater:

  • Achieved a 14.7% reduction in Scope 1+2 emissions and a 7.7% reduction in Scope 3 emissions from baseline.
  • Expanded the global regenerative agriculture program to over 2.8 million acres, sequestering 263,700 metric tons of CO2 and reducing CO2e emissions by 310,000 metric tons.
  • Set a goal to eliminate primary native vegetation conversion in direct supply chains by 2025 and indirect supply chains by 2027.
  • Supported the EO Wilson Biodiversity Foundation to advance conservation science.

ADM's initiatives aimed at improving lives include:

  • Donated over $20 million through the ADM Cares program to support sustainability, food security, and health.
  • Enhanced workplace inclusivity through employee resource groups and fostering a diverse workforce.
  • Received recognition as a Financial Times Diversity Leader, Ethisphere’s World’s Most Ethical Companies for the fourth consecutive year, and inclusion in FORTUNE Magazine’s World’s Most Admired Companies list for the 15th year.
