Biden Selects Michael Regan to Head EPA

Regan has served as head of North Carolina’s environmental agency since 2017

President-elect Joe Biden tapped Michael Regan to serve as administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency on Thursday, Fox News has confirmed.

Regan has served as head of North Carolina’s environmental agency since 2017. A longtime air quality specialist at the EPA, Regan has served under both the Clinton and George W. Bush administrations.

Regan also spent time at the Environmental Defense Fund, a nonprofit advocacy group, and led his own environment and energy consulting firm.

“American Farm Bureau Federation congratulates Michael Regan on his nomination to lead the EPA. As secretary of North Carolina’s Department of Environmental Quality, he reached out to farmers and ranchers to better understand the challenges facing agriculture," says AFBF President Zippy Duvall. "He has a reputation for making decisions guided by science that also take into account input from the people who would be impacted the most.

“If confirmed, we hope he brings that same openness and science-based approach to the EPA. We look forward to working constructively together to achieve the goals of sustaining a vibrant agricultural economy while building on our progress of instituting climate-smart practices.”
