Grain industry leaders from across the United States are convening this week in Fort Worth, Texas, for the Grain Elevator and Processing Society (GEAPS) Leadership Conference. The event, held in the historic stockyards, spans two days focused on leadership development within the grain industry.
This year’s conference theme is “Leading a Culture of Safety,” emphasizing servant leadership principles, where the focus is on prioritizing the needs of team members. The program includes sessions on safety training, conflict management, and the attributes of effective leadership. Ted Schick, who was the keynote speaker at last year's conference in Portland, Oregon, returns in an expanded role as the conference facilitator.
In addition to educational opportunities, the conference features a Supplier Showcase, allowing vendors to interact with attendees in a more intimate setting compared to the larger GEAPS Exchange expo. This setup provides a platform for attendees to explore industry services and products while networking with peers.
John Caupert, Executive Director of GEAPS, expressed enthusiasm about the conference's networking and educational offerings. He highlighted the importance of leadership as a service-driven role within organizations.
The conference also offers social events, including an evening at Billy Bob’s Texas, a well-known honky tonk, and a golf tournament hosted by GEAPS' Lonestar Chapter. These events are designed to enhance networking opportunities in a relaxed, social setting.
Registration for the event is available for both GEAPS members and non-members, with special pricing for members of the Texas Grain and Feed Association. Further details and registration information can be found on GEAPS’ website.
